Ted Talk Reflection

Ted Talk
In this ted talk, Young-ha Kim talks about how people tend to think about the hundreds of reasons not to be an artist rather than the reasons we should be. He talks about how even though people may stray away from the idea of being an artist because of their “skill level” that we are all born artists. I think that the connection between art and childhood he drew was really interesting. It is true that when I was a kid I was super creative and drew over everything and made up stories and games. As we get older our creativity sort of starts dying off. Kids are creative and have fun doing the little things not because anyone told them too. It is because they want to. He brings this idea into his final statement. Martha Graham responded “Just do it” when asked what do you have to do in order to become a great dancer. I love this statement because it is something that we can all keep in our minds. Even if you think you don’t have the skillset to be a great artist, you can still create. I think we are too worked up on wondering if what we create will be good enough instead of just trying.
